Service and maintenance
Service and maintenance for your Volkswagen camper
A Volkswagen California deserves a specialist, not a generalist. At Josh Schippers in Dalfsen, you can come to us for all maintenance, repairs, MOT, and bodywork repairs for your VW Transporter or California camper — all managed in-house, without referrals. We have known these vehicles inside out since 2006.
What can we do for you?
MOT inspection
We arrange the MOT for your Volkswagen Transporter, California, or other VW bus. You can schedule an appointment in advance so you don’t have to wait unnecessarily long. During the inspection, we also identify any other points of attention and inform you about them proactively.
Servicing and periodic maintenance
The T5 and T6 California use a so-called Longlife service schedule — meaning no separate minor and major services, but a continuous interval based on driving behavior and time. The maximum interval is usually 40,000 km or 2 years, but we recommend coming in sooner in case of intensive use or many short trips. We perform the service according to factory specifications, including filling out your service plan for demonstrable maintenance history.
During every service, we also standardly check the camper components: gas and water connections, pop-up roof mechanism, refrigerator, and batteries.
Repairs
From degrading DSG fluid to a defective pop-up roof mechanism — we solve it. Our workshop is fully equipped for the VW Transporter family. You can request a non-binding quote in advance so you won’t be faced with surprises.
Common repairs we perform:
- DSG gearbox — fluid change and diagnosis
- Pop-up roof — mechanism, canvas, and seals
- Brakes — pads, discs, and brake fluid
- Cooling system and engine
- Electrical systems — camper power, leisure battery, solar panel connection
- Gas installation in the camper section
- Water installation and pump
- Turbo and exhaust
- Air conditioning service and maintenance

Bodywork repair
Damage to your VW bus or California? We provide bodywork repairs for the vehicle itself. Small dents, paint damage, or larger bodywork damage — we will assess it and give you an honest estimate. The same applies to damage to the camper components (kitchen, pop-up roof, interior): stop by or send photos via our contact form.
Why choose Josh Schippers for your maintenance?
A regular VW dealer knows the mechanical side of the Transporter but usually has limited experience with the camper components. At Josh Schippers, we work with both sides of the vehicle daily. That makes a big difference when there is an issue with the pop-up roof, the gas installation, or the camper power — matters that a standard dealer often refers elsewhere or does not have in stock.
